Ajit Pawar directs timely completion of all development projects initiated under 15th Finance Commission
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Wednesday instructed officials to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of all development projects initiated under the 15th Finance Commission.
Chairing a comprehensive review meeting at Mantralaya, Pawar emphasised that the projects should be executed with a long-term vision for the next hundred years and warned that not a single rupee of the allocated funds should remain unutilised.
Pawar noted that the Central Government is extending full cooperation in implementing development works in the state and stressed that the funds must be fully utilized within the current financial year. He firmly stated that quality and timeliness are non-negotiable.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who also handles the Finance, Planning, and Excise portfolios, reviewed the progress of various key initiatives, including the creation of an artificial coral reef using the decommissioned Indian Navy ship INS Guldar off the Sindhudurg coast. This project will include tourist attractions such as scuba diving, submarine tours, and an underwater museum. Other reviewed projects include the construction of a Unity Mall near the Ulwe International Airport in Navi Mumbai, the development of the ‘Ram-Kal-Path’ heritage route in Nashik, and hostels for working women in seven urban centres including Thane, Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Kalyan-Dombivli, and Solapur.
Urban and rural development works, disaster management initiatives, public health schemes, cultural heritage conservation, forest and wildlife management, the construction of the Rewas-Redi Coastal Highway, and housing schemes for police personnel were also part of the review.
Pawar assured the state government’s full support to resolve any bottlenecks that may delay the projects and insisted there should be no lapses, financial or structural. He said these projects must stand the test of time and reflect the government's long-term vision.
The high-level meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) O.P. Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (Planning) Dr. Rajagopal Deora, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) Asimkumar Gupta, Principal Secretary (Rural Development) Eknath Dawale, and Principal Secretary (Finance) Saurabh Vijay. Senior representatives from the Tourism, Public Works, Public Health departments, Nashik Municipal Corporation, and CIDCO were also present.
Pawar concluded by reiterating the need for close coordination with the Centre to ensure smooth fund flow and emphasized that all developmental activities under the 15th Finance Commission should reflect foresight, quality, and timely execution.
