A fire broke out at a commercial building in Thane West on Saturday morning, triggering a swift response from civic authorities. The incident was reported to the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation at around 6.48 am.

According to officials, the fire occurred at a Zudio store located on the second floor of Prabhat Plaza, a ground-plus-five-storey building situated at Jambhlinaka on Market Road. Repair and carpentry work was underway at the shop at the time the fire broke out, officials said.


Personnel from the Fire Brigade, led by Divisional Officer Bhondve and Station Officer Kadam, along with two firefighters and a fire engine, were immediately deployed to the site. A utility vehicle was also pressed into service. Staff from the Disaster Management Cell, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), and officers from Thane City Police were present during the operation.



The blaze caused damage to cupboards, electrical wiring, and other materials inside the shop. However, officials confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.

The fire was completely extinguished by around 7.40 am, and the situation is now under control, the Disaster Management Cell said. Further assessment of the damage is underway.

Mumbai: Fire breaks out at commercial building in Santacruz East

Meanwhile, a fire broke out at a commercial building in the Kalina area of Santacruz East during the early hours of Sunday, civic officials said. The incident was reported to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) at around 2.37 am.

According to officials, the fire occurred at Emgeen Chambers, situated opposite Bharat Bank on CST Road. The blaze was confined to a closed office on the sixth floor of the basement-plus-ground-plus-six-storey glass facade commercial building.

The fire affected electrical wiring and installations, office files and records, wooden furniture, computers, doors, windows, chairs, glass facade elements, and the false ceiling in an area measuring approximately 60 feet by 60 feet.

After receiving the alert, multiple firefighting and emergency response units were mobilised, including an Assistant Divisional Fire Officer, senior station officers, several fire engines and jumbo tankers, an aerial water tower tender, a hydraulic platform, a quick response vehicle, a breathing apparatus van, and a 108 ambulance. Personnel from the police, the concerned electricity distribution company, and BMC ward staff were also present at the site.

Firefighters succeeded in bringing the blaze under control and fully extinguishing it by 4.14 am, officials confirmed.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Authorities are continuing to assess the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
