The deadline for student registration under the Class 11 online admission process for the academic year 2025–26 has been extended till 2 pm on Thursday, the School Education Department has announced.
Originally, the registration window was open till Tuesday from May 26.
However, following amendments to the provisions outlined in the government resolution dated May 6, and the subsequent directives issued on May 31 regarding admissions under the in-house quota, the deadline has now been revised to allow more time for students, parents and junior colleges to make necessary updates.
Dr Shriram Panzade, Director (Secondary Education), stated that under the in-house quota, 10 per cent of seats are reserved for private management-run higher secondary schools and junior colleges. In Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs and Thane, affiliated school units are considered a single entity for the in-house quota, while in other districts, each school and its corresponding college are counted as a single unit within their respective revenue districts.
In light of these changes, additional time has been granted to enable institutions to update school data on the admission portal and for students to amend their preference lists accordingly.
The department has urged students and parents to complete registration at the earliest on the official website: https://mahafyjcadmissions.in.
The remaining schedule of the admission process will continue as per the previously published timeline.
As on Monday evening, 10,85,851 students had registered across the divisions:
Mumbai – 2,65,900
Pune – 1,87,925
Nashik – 1,12,108
Kolhapur – 1,07,012
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar – 1,00,040
Amravati – 98,359
Nagpur – 95,210
Latur – 58,586
Others – 61,712

Vacant seats
In the 2024 admission cycle, 1.34 lakh seats (32.94 per cent) remained vacant across 1050 junior colleges in MMR, despite 12 rounds of admissions, including regular, special, and daily merit rounds. Out of 408,435 seats, only 273,898 students were admitted, with 26,495 remaining in the “not admitted” category even though 300,393 had registered. This recurring trend has prompted educational activists and academics to call for a comprehensive audit of the admission process.
Many have also questioned the rationale behind granting permissions for new colleges and courses each year, despite the mounting number of unfilled seats.
