Ahead of the inauguration of the Navi Mumbai International Airport on 8 October, industrialist Gautam Adani met with a diverse group of employees who played a key role in bringing the project to fruition. The gathering included differently-abled colleagues, construction workers, women staff, engineers, artisans, firefighters, and security personnel.

Gautam Adani reviewed the project site and personally walked through the final preparations of the greenfield Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). During the visit, the Adani Group Chairman carried out a detailed inspection of the airport, which is designed to handle 90 million passengers annually once fully operational. This scale places it among the largest airports in the world.

Speaking about the experience, Adani described the airport as “a living wonder—a monument shaped by thousands of hands and hearts.” He emphasised that as millions of flights operate and billions of passengers pass through the airport, the dedication and spirit of these individuals would resonate in every takeoff and every step.

"Ahead of the inauguration of Navi Mumbai International Airport on 8 Oct, I met with our differently-abled colleagues, construction workers, women staff, engineers, artisans, fire fighters and the guards who helped bring this vision to life. I felt the pulse of a living wonder - a monument shaped by thousands of hands and hearts. When millions of flights take to the skies and billions walk through these halls, the spirit of these people will echo through every takeoff and every step - and to them, I offer my deepest gratitude. Jai Hind," Adani said in a post on X.

With final touches now underway before its formal inauguration on October 8 by the Prime Minister, Navi Mumbai International Airport will ease congestion in Mumbai, catalyse economic growth, and serve as a gateway to the future.

Meanwhile, the aviation regulator DGCA has granted an aerodrome licence to the Navi Mumbai International Airport. NMIA will be the second airport in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

"Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) marks a significant milestone with the grant of its Aerodrome Licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The licence, awarded after meeting stringent safety and regulatory requirements, is an essential prerequisite for commencing operations," operator Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL) said in a statement on Tuesday.
