To mark the 69th Mahaparinirvan Day of Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, BEST has announced special arrangements for devotees visiting Chaityabhoomi in Mumbai on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The civic transport body has planned additional bus services, enhanced electricity supply, health camps, and refreshments to ensure a smooth and convenient experience for visitors.

A temporary service window near Nana-Nani Park will facilitate electricity connections from Thursday and Saturday, while dedicated teams at Chhatrapati Shivaji Park and Vanita Samaj will ensure uninterrupted power supply.
This year, 781 LED streetlights of 150 watts and three 2000-watt metal halide lights will be installed at key locations, including Shivaji Park, Chaityabhoomi, Dadar Chowpatty, Rajgruha, Dadasaheb Phalke Marg, Ambedkar College, Wadala, and Madam Kama Marg. Additionally, three 6 kW searchlights will be set up at Bajiprabhu Udyan, Dnyaneshwar Udyan, and Mayor Bungalow for special occasions. Backup generators and standby engineering teams have been deployed to maintain a continuous electricity supply.
For transportation, overnight buses from Mumbai suburbs to Chaityabhoomi will operate 17 buses on Friday from 10 pm to 6 am on routes A-4, A-202, A-241, A-351, A-354, and A-385. On Saturday, December 6 (Mahaparinirvan Divas), 42 additional buses will run on multiple city routes. BEST will also operate 10 special air-conditioned electric buses from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Udyan for visits to Dr Ambedkar memorials and South Mumbai landmarks, at a fare of Rs 75 per passenger. Daily bus passes will also be available near Chaityabhoomi and Shivaji Udyan on Friday and Saturday.
Medical services will include free health check-ups, eye tests, and the distribution of at least 700 free spectacles. Awareness campaigns on malaria, dengue, chikungunya, tuberculosis, heart disease, diabetes, and tobacco-related illnesses will be conducted, along with counselling and preventive programs for HIV/AIDS. Twenty medical personnel will operate in five shifts to manage the services efficiently.
Free books on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s life and light refreshments will also be distributed to visitors.
