A large container was found floating in the sea near Kalamb beach in Virar on Tuesday morning. It was fully loaded with wallpaper. Local residents spotted the container and informed the Arnala police, who arrived at the scene and began an investigation. The container was later seized and handed over to the customs department for further inquiry.

According to officials, the container was seen drifting near Kalamb Beach in Virar West around 10 am on Tuesday. A police officer said, “The locals found the container and alerted the Arnala police. Our team reached the spot and contacted all relevant agencies, and conducted a thorough inspection, but only wallpaper was inside. The entire container was filled with wallpaper.”

The officer also mentioned, “Around 12 days ago, this container was reportedly seen near the Gujarat coastline, but then it went missing.” The Navan control room had also received a message earlier regarding a container spotted floating at sea.

Speaking to mid-day, Senior PI Vijay Patil of the Arnala police station said, “We checked the container and found nothing suspicious. It contained only wallpaper. Around 12 days ago, we had received a message about a container drifting in the northern waters off the Gujarat coast. We suspect it may have fallen off a cargo ship. The container has now been handed over to the customs department for further investigation.”
