The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a nowcast warning for several districts in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. The warning, valid until 0300 hrs, predicts the likelihood of thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall at isolated places.

The affected districts include Bhandara, Akola, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Washim, Buldhana, Nagpur, Wardha, and Amravati. Residents in these areas have been urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

Thunderstorms can bring with them a range of weather-related hazards, including heavy rainfall, lightning, and strong winds. It is essential for residents to stay indoors, especially during thunderstorms, to avoid potential lightning strikes and other dangers associated with severe weather.

The combination of thunderstorms and rainfall can also lead to localized flooding, so residents in low-lying areas should be prepared for possible waterlogging and take measures to protect their property.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow alert for Friday in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nashik districts of Maharashtra. "Western #MadhyaPradesh, #Maharashtra & #Gujarat to Face Heavy Downpour in next 3 days," the IMD said in a post on 'X'. The weather office has predicted light to moderate rainfall with moderate to severe thunderstorms in several parts of India including north Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
