A 32-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after hanging himself inside a tempo in Maharashtra’s Latur district, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred late Sunday night and came to light after locals alerted authorities about a stationary vehicle on the roadside, reported news agency PTI.

Victim identified as Nanded resident

The deceased has been identified as Gajanan Marwadi, a resident of Mukhed tehsil in neighbouring Nanded district. According to police officials, Marwadi was employed as a tempo driver and had been travelling along a highway route at the time of the incident, reported PTI.

Suicide note shared on WhatsApp status

Police said that before taking the step, Marwadi had posted a message believed to be a suicide note on his WhatsApp status. Authorities are currently examining the content of the post as part of their investigation, reported PTI.

Officials stated that the message may provide clues about his state of mind prior to the incident, though its exact implications are yet to be fully understood.

Incident occurred inside parked vehicle

According to preliminary findings, Marwadi had parked his tempo on the roadside at around 11 pm, leaving the vehicle’s side lights on. He then used a rope to hang himself inside the vehicle, reported PTI.

Passersby reportedly noticed the parked tempo under unusual circumstances and informed the police, who reached the spot shortly thereafter.

Police initiate probe, body sent for post-mortem

Upon arrival, police officials found Marwadi unresponsive inside the vehicle. His body was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death, reported PTI.

Authorities have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the incident.

Cause of suicide yet to be determined

Police said that the exact reason behind the suicide is still unknown. Investigators are looking into possible personal, financial or professional factors that may have contributed to the incident, reported PTI.

Further inquiries are underway, and officials said they are also speaking to family members and acquaintances to gather more information.

Teenager dies by suicide in Nagpur

In another incident, an 18-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide on the premises of a shopping mall in Nagpur on Sunday, an official said, reported PTI.

Yash Sunil Zhade, a resident of Jawahar Nagar in the Manewada area, had been missing since Saturday afternoon, and his family had lodged a complaint at Hudkeshwar police station, he said. His body was found on the second floor of the Empress Mall in the city. A water bottle and rat poison were recovered from the spot, the official said, reported PTI.

Zhade's Class 12 exams ended on March 11, but he reportedly kept leaving home, saying he had examinations, his family told the police.
