Maharashtra Monsoon Session 2025: NCP MLC Amol Mitkari stages protest after aide denied entry
NCP MLC Amol Mitkari on Friday staged a sit-in protest at the entrance of the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan after his personal assistant (PA) was denied entry into the complex on the last day of the state legislature's monsoon session.
The legislator, representing the Ajit Pawar-led party, labelled the incident as "shameful," alleging discrimination. He further claimed that while the individuals facing serious charges were permitted entry into the legislature complex earlier, while his PA was stopped despite he possessing official documents.
This incident occurred a day after supporters of NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad and BJP legislator Gopichand Padalkar had an altercation inside the Vidhan Bhavan.
A day prior to that, the two MLAs themselves had engaged in a heated exchange.
Following the move, the opposition quickly seized upon the episode to criticise the Mahayuti government, alleging it exemplified lawlessness and questioning the security arrangements at the state legislature complex.
When Mitkari arrived at the legislature complex around 9:45 AM, security personnel prevented his PA from entering theVidhan Bhavan.
Speaking to reporters later, Mitkari explained that his PA, who accompanies him daily to assist with Legislative Council-related discussions, was suddenly barred from entering the building, with security personnel citing the lack of a green entry pass.
Furthermore, Mitkari claimed his assistant's yellow pass was declared invalid by the Vidhan Bhavan authorities following tightened security measures implemented after Thursday's scuffle between the supporters of Awhad and Padalkar.
