As the surge in Covid-19 cases is observed in countries such as China, Japan, the United States, South Korea, Brazil, and France, the Government of India has issued updated guidelines. As per the guidelines the airport authorities are restarting measures such as taking RT-PCR samples of 2 per cent of international passengers at the Mumbai International airport.

All the positive samples will be sent to the Pune-based NIV laboratory for Whole Genome Sequencing.

In order to curb the growing fear of the spread of coronavirus again, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday shared advisors to be followed by the citizens.

"It is important for citizens to follow all Covid-appropriate behaviour in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19. This includes wearing a mask in public, maintaining physical distance from others, washing hands frequently with soap and water, and staying home when feeling sick. All citizens shall take vaccination and precautionary dose," said the BMC official release.

As per the BMC data, Mumbai reported seven Covid-19 cases and zero death on December 23. "The recovery count increased by five to touch 11,35,291, leaving the city with an active caseload of 37," a BMC official said.

The recovery rate of Mumbai is 98.3 per cent and the caseload doubling time is 1,55,948 days.

The BMC has two hospitals majorly treating Covid-19 patients including Andheri-based Seven Hills hospital and Byculla-based Kasturba hospital; four government hospitals and 26 private hospitals. All hospital admissions will be managed by ward war rooms.
