Mumbai since Monday morning has been experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall, which has made the situation quite chaotic. With heavy rain showers all across the city, Nariman Point has received 252 mm of rainfall from Sunday, May 25, 11:00 am to Monday, May, 26, 10:00 am. The area located in the south of the city has been experiencing heavy showers along with thunderstorms since early Monday.

As per the data released by the authorities, apart from Nariman Point, there are four more areas in Mumbai that received more than 200 mm of rainfall since Sunday, 25 May. The other areas that have been hit badly by the monsoon on Monday are A Division office (216mm), Municipal Headquarters (214 mm), Colaba Rescue Station (207mm) and Eye Hospital Do Tanki (202mm).

Adding to the chaos, reports of local trains not functioning as per their scheduled time due to waterlogging on the tracks have also been reported. Heavy rains in Mumbai on Monday left Kalyan Railway Station packed with stranded commuters. Moreover, train services between Kurla and CSMT were completely halted due to severe waterlogging on the tracks at Masjid station, which was made operational after a couple of hours. Additionally, trains on the Harbour Line were also running behind schedule during the early hours of Monday. The cancellation and delay of several trains across the central and harbour lines caused massive inconvenience to thousands of passengers, forcing many to wait indefinitely at the station premises.

Videos surfacing on social media platforms show that because of the intense rains, the area under the Dadar TT flyover has been waterlogged, leading to traffic disruptions. Moreover, heavy rainfall also caused waterlogging around the Breach Candy area, resulting in traffic delays and inconvenience for residents and commuters.

Monitoring the situation, weather forecasting agencies also released data that shows the rainfall received since Sunday, May 25, 11:00 am. The areas are namely C Division Office which includes Marine Lines and Chandanwadi (180mm), Memonwada Fire Station (183mm), Britannia Rescue Station, which includes Worli (171mm), Narialwadi School, Santacruz (103mm), Supari Tank, Bandra (101mm), District Collectorate, Chembur (82mm), and L Division Office, Kurla (76mm).
