St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, set the stage for its flagship intercollegiate festival Malhar 2025 with the much-awaited pre-event Malhar by the Bay, held on August 5 at antiSOCIAL, Lower Parel. The evening, attended by around 300 people, offered a vibrant mix of music, movement, and artistic expression, leaving audiences spellbound.
In its latest edition, Malhar by the Bay upheld the tradition of showcasing the cultural richness and creative flair synonymous with the festival. This year’s programme featured an eclectic lineup of guest artists, student-led duets, live bands, and even a surprise flash mob, creating an immersive celebration of rhythm and performance.
Organised in collaboration with JioSaavn, supported by Furtados, and with Sammmm as the title sponsor of Malhar 2025, the event’s standout moment came from four guest performers from Universal Music India — Utsavi Jha, Samad Khan, Bharath, and Mohammad Faiz — whose dynamic sets drew thunderous applause.
Student performers also took the spotlight, with acts such as The Espresso Machine presenting their original track Talaash, genre-blending bands experimenting with soundscapes, and a Hindi-Marathi rap duo energising the crowd into a chorus of cheers.
The night ended on a high note with a surprise flash mob, followed by a DJ set that kept the dance floor buzzing.
The event’s success was credited to the efforts of the Malhar Public Relations Externals team, the dedication of the artists, and the infectious enthusiasm of the audience. With this energetic prelude, Malhar 2025 has officially kicked off, reaffirming its legacy as one of Mumbai’s most celebrated college festivals — a hub for creativity, collaboration, and culture.
St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, established in 1869, is one of India’s most prestigious higher education institutions.
