He assumes different professions to fool people for money; police on the lookout
The Adugodi police are on the lookout for Trailokya Deb Sharma (26), an Assamese youth, who they say, has cheated several people assuming different professions. These include a doctor, a techie, and an airlines employee.
In happier times: After many unsuccessful attempts to get more
money, Trailokya Deb Sharma dumped his wife Anamika
His 'adventures' came to light after his girlfriend filed a complaint, accusing him of cheating her. Sharma had been staying in Bangalore since 2005, but is now absconding.
Sharma, whose real profession is not known, went to his home in Mangaldai district, Assam, last year, and met Anamika, who used to live next door.
He impressed her by telling her that he was a software engineer in Bangalore. The friendship blossomed, and he proposed her to marry her, but Anamika's parents were against the relationship.
The couple left town six months ago, and came to Bangalore without informing the parents. They settled in the Laksandra.
After a few months, Anamika realised that Sharma was not what he had said earlier. She called her parents, and told them her location in the city. The parents came down, and left her a large amount.
When Sharma came to know about this, he started pestering Anamika for money, so he could start a business. She complied and got it from her parents, but didn't know that Sharma had borrowed a large amount of money, and needed to pay it back to moneylenders.
After the money ran out, Sharma asked for some more, but Anamika's parents refused. After many unsuccessful attempts to get any more money, he decided to dump her.
On November 25, he told her that he had some work at the passport office, and that he would be back later. But he didn't return his calls, and later switched off his phone.
After waiting for an entire day, Anamika visited the Adugodi police station, and filed a missing persons complaint. She also told the officials of her plight.
When the police traced his call details, they found that the last call was made from the city railway station.
In the meanwhile, Sharma had called his friends, and told that he was not interested in returning to the city.
Anamika now only wants to go back to her hometown, and has requested the police to inform her if they find Sharma.
Adugodi police confirmed filing a missing persons complaint. Station in-charge G Subbalaxamma said, "We have sent his details to all police stations. If we find him, we will inform Anamika."
