Officials manning helpline in Vashi say they received more calls on day of HSC results than SSC
Most counsellors appointed by the Maharashtra State Board for the benefit of SSC and HSC students said the number of calls they received from the HSC students the day results were declared were more in comparison to ones they attended on the day SSC results were out. The counsellors said the inflow of calls was such that they were on their toes attending to nervous and worried students all day.

The helpline, which is manned by the board official, has only been able to help students solve queries related to answer sheets, application for re-checking and other miscellaneous queries.
An official manning the board helpline in Vashi said, “After the HSC results were declared on May 30, we received over 100 calls and the next day over 50 from anxious students and their parents. But we received just about 75 calls the day SSC results were declared. Here too, most of callers were from HSC students.”
Chandrakant Munde, a counsellor, said, “The board had circulated our contact numbers in newspapers. As not many SSC students are known to read newspapers, this could be one of the reasons why we received less calls from SSC students. Had the numbers been displayed on the school’s notice board, probably more students would have contacted us.”
He said the first call he received after the SSC results were out was from a distressed parent whose child had scored much less than what was expected. The call was made at 7 am. Munde, who received close to 50 calls on the day of the SSC results in comparision to 100 plus calls on the day of HSC results, said that unlike SSC students, HSC students are more confident to talk to a counsellor and get their doubts cleared. Counsellors said that most of the calls they received for SSC-related queries were from parents.
Laxmikant Pande, chairperson for Mumbai divisional board, said that since the results were declared on June 7, lots of students were yet to come to terms with their marks. “Calls answered by the counsellors will determine the kind of problems the students faced,” he added.u00a0
