A MAN died and another was injured when a trailer dashed against a bike near Yerwada police station around 12.30 am.
The deceased identified as Baburao Sriram Doke (44) was travelling on a bike with Alkesh Singhlal Singh (27) near Chima Garden, when the trailer hit them from behind.
Doke died on the spot after receiving severe injuries but Singh was admitted to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment.
PSI Mane, the officer on duty at Yerwada police station said the trailer had an Andhra Pradesh number plate and so the driver may also be from the same place.
"By the time we reached the spot, the driver had fled but we got the trailer in custody," added Mane.
The two were on their way home when the accident happened.
Family members of both reached Sassoon Hospital soon after receiving the news.
After the friends produced the necessary documents, the police were able to register the identity of the deceased. The police are now in search of the driver.
