No fire safety system was working at Anusandhan Bhavan
Had the fire safety mechanisms been in a working condition at the Anusandhan Bhavan in New Delhi, there would have been less damage in yesterday's fire, which resulted in the death of two people and injured five.
According to the fire officials, 14 fire tenders took around two hours to douse the blaze.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0
An eyewitness said when the fire broke out around 60 employees who were inside the building rushed out but a few of them went to the fourth floor where two of them suffocated to death. "We did not pay much attention to the smoke when it first broke out as there was some repair work on in the building," said Pritam Chand, a guard outside the building.u00a0u00a0
The five injured were rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.
