Television actor Akshat Utkarsh, who hails from Bihar, was found dead in his rented apartment at Mumbai's Andheri area on Sunday night. Officials from Amboli police station said Akshat was depressed due to lack of work and committed suicide. However, dismissing the depression angle, Akshat's family claimed that the aspiring actor was murdered.

The 26-year-old actor's body was taken to his native Muzaffarpur by his family on Tuesday. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the family alleged police negligence. Police officials said that Akshat used to stay with one of his female friends in a society near Andheri RTO.
As per Akshat's roommate's statement, he was behaving as usual on Sunday evening and they chatted about various things and then had dinner together before going to sleep.
"At around 11.30 pm when she woke up to use the washroom, she found Akshat dead in his room, after which she immediately called the police," said an officer from Amboli police station. Although a team of police officials rushed Akshat to a private hospital, he was declared dead before arrival. The body was later shifted to Cooper hospital for autopsy, the officer added.
Senior police inspector Someshwar Kanthe of Amboli police station said, "We have registered an Accidental Death Record (ADR) and are enquiring the matter. Preliminary enquiry and autopsy report do not indicate any foul play. The incident took place on Sunday night somewhere between 10 pm and 11:30 pm."
Police officials questioned the late actor's friends, who said that Akshat was in depression as there was no work because of the lockdown and he had to borrow money from his family and friends.
