Man stabbed at foodgrains depot despite 25 guards being on dutyu00a0
A man was murdered by unknown assailants at the foodgrains depot in Market Yard last night. The deceased, who is yet to be identified, was aged between 25 and 30 years, say doctors.
According to officials from Swargate police station, they received a call around 12.30 am from security personnel at the Market Yard that a man was found in a severely injured condition near Gate Number 8.
He was rushed to Sassoon Hospital by security guards at the depot and was declared dead in hospital. He had received multiple wounds on his face, neck and chest.
The man was first noticed by security personnel in the market. Arif Sheikh, one of the guards who brought the man to the hospital, said, "He was bleeding profusely, but was still breathing. We rushed him to hospital and informed the police," he said.
The police are stumped how the murder could have happened at the Market Yard where 25 security personnel were on duty. "Every entry and exit point is manned here. Besides these security guards keep patrolling the premises. How did the victim not make any noise after he was stabbed so many times?u00a0 If he did, someone should have heard him," said a sub-inspector from Swargate police station.
