Odisha's ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) legislator Jagabandhu Majhi and his personal security officer, Pinku Patra, were shot dead by unidentified assailants suspected to be Maoists in the state's Nabrangpur district on Saturday.

Odisha's ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) legislator Jagabandhu Majhi and his personal security officer, Pinku Patra, were shot dead by unidentified assailants suspected to be Maoists in the state's Nabrangpur district on Saturday.

The 39 year-old legislator was shot dead when he was distributing land ownership papers to tribal residents at a function at Gona village. Three attackers on a motorcycle shot at the legislator and sped off.u00a0
