Important documents destroyed as thieves make away with water taps, pipes, flooding the entire office

Thieves broke into the office of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Bhagyasheela society in Kondhwa and made away with water taps and pipes.

Some important documents of the NGO were damaged as the thieves yanked away the taps and pipes flooding the entire rowhouse, where the office was situated.

Nafisa Khambata (55) who runs the NGO, has filed a complaint with the Kondhwa police.

No witnesses
The police are yet to identify the thieves as there are no eye-witnesses in the case and verification of criminals-on-record has yielded no results.

Khambata runs the Prayatna NGO for special children, the office of which is located in Kondhwa. Khambata resides on Mahatma Gandhi road in Camp, but shuttles between her home and office.

"As Diwali vacation is going on, the NGO office was closed. Before leaving the office on Friday, I had locked it.

However the next day it was found open and several items stolen and documents damaged," Nafisa stated.

Police Sub-Inspector R S Kshirsagar said, "The windows of the NGO office, on both the ground and first floor, were found open. Items like water taps, pipes, shower, burner among others have been reportedly stolen from the office, which led to flooding in the entire office."

"We have checked the police record for such thefts but have not got any clues. The office and a bungalow in its neighbourhood was also locked when the theft took place, so it's difficult to gain leads," Kshirsagar added.
