It's not easy being a DJ. When the rest of the world hangs up their boots and gets ready to booze up and unwind, a DJ knows that his day is just beginning. They are the soul of parties and can make or mar one and have to be on their toes mixing tunes and beats to create the right music which can complement the ambience and the crowd. We caught up with the most happening Disc Jockeys in the city, who share tidbits about their genre of music and reveal their personal Hot Five numbers.
DJ Agnel
Music was always a passion with Agnel Tawadia as was "the urge to make people feel better and dance to my tunes". Since embarking on a career as a DJ in 1998, he has fine-tuned his musical skills and honed himself in the art of turntablism. He was also the winner of the Times War of the DJs.

DJ Shree
When Shridhar Krishnamurthy (DJ Shree) was in college, he was involved in organising events for his institution and invited DJs for the shows.u00a0 Gradually, he became hooked to the music and started playing at Toons Cafu00e9 in 2003 with a repertoire of Rock and Retro numbers. "My style is highly inspired by DJ Zubair and DJ Agnel, in the sense that they play for the crowd and there is maximum interaction with the audience," states the DJ who believes that versatility is his speciality.

DJ Tally
DJ Tally's introduction to music came quite early in life, when he started listening to artists such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Doors and Rolling Stones. His passion for music inspired him to take up DJing as a profession. In 1999, he kickstarted his career in Mumbai. One of the reasons attributed for his popularity is his vibrant personality; he can get the adrenaline pumping for even the most jaded of crowds. Exploring different avenues in the industry from background scoring to live sound setups, Tally is considered an all-rounder.

DJ Piyush
What started as a hobby has turned into a full-fledged passion for Piyush Mehta aka DJ Piyush. Mehta used to chill out with friends at night clubs and got bitten by the music bug that refused to let go. He started DJing for a lark and gradually moved up the ranks and started getting paid. He has been playing for the last 12 years. Patrons swear by his trademark thumping bass and beats, as he spins Electro, House and Bollywood numbers.

DJ Tobac
Durgesh Majethia or DJ Tobac's journey started in 2003 when he was working as a sound engineer at DJ Sasha's concert in Mumbai. He enjoyed the unusual kind of music that he got to hear at the event, which was nothing like the usual fare. Besides, the sight of hordes of revellers dancing in a frenzy to the music was the clincher, for this lover of House music. He is known for his energy behind the console andu00a0 specialises in progressive and melodic Techno. He has played with some of the best names in the music business, including DJ Cheb, Talvin Singh and TaTvA Kundalini and Taamara.
