Prime Minister Narendra Modi, upon his return from Bhutan on Wednesday, visited the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital in Delhi, where he met those injured in the Delhi Red Fort blast who are currently receiving treatment, reported the IANS.
PM Modi arrived in the national capital on Wednesday afternoon following his two-day state visit to Bhutan.
At the hospital, he interacted with the victims, enquired about their well-being, and wished them a swift recovery. He was also briefed by doctors and senior officials regarding their condition and the ongoing medical response.
During his stay in Thimphu, the Prime Minister had expressed profound sorrow over the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, assuring that the government would take the “strictest action” against those responsible.
In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, "Went to LNJP Hospital and met those injured during the blast in Delhi. Praying for everyone’s quick recovery. Those behind the conspiracy will be brought to justice."
Earlier on Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) constituted a special team of ten officers to lead the probe into the Red Fort blast. The team will be headed by NIA Additional Director General Vijay Sakhare and include an Inspector General, two Deputy Inspector Generals, three Superintendents of Police, and other Deputy Superintendent-level officers.
The move followed the Home Ministry’s decision on Tuesday to formally hand over the investigation to the NIA. The explosion occurred on the evening of November 10, when a Haryana-registered car parked near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station detonated, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens more.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the situation on Tuesday, taking stock of the multi-state searches underway and reiterating the government’s determination to bring the perpetrators to justice. Chairing a high-level meeting with top security officials, Shah directed agencies to uncover the full conspiracy “at the earliest” and ensure no aspect of the case was overlooked.
Over a thousand CCTV clips are currently being analysed by investigators, who suspect the blast may have been a suicide attack designed to cause maximum casualties. Investigators are also trawling social media platforms and retrieving mobile-phone dump data from the vicinity of the Red Fort to trace possible communication links connected to the car explosion.
The Home Minister has instructed the NIA, Intelligence Bureau, and Delhi Police Special Cell to coordinate closely, asserting that “no stone will be left unturned.” Heightened alerts have been issued in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with security tightened at crowded public spaces and religious sites amid fears of further threats.
