The Himachal Pradesh government has imposed a two-month ban on adventure activities across the state from July 15 to 15 September, citing weather conditions due to the monsoon season, officials announced on Monday, reported the PTI.
The announcement follows a tragic paragliding accident on Sunday in Kangra district, where a tourist from Gujarat lost his life.
The tourist had taken off from the Indru Nag Paragliding Site near Dharamshala on a tandem flight with pilot who is currently undergoing treatment, according to the PTI.
The paraglider crashed shortly after take-off.

During this period, activities such as paragliding, river rafting, water sports, and other adventure-related events will remain closed. The department has also sent letters to sub-divisional officers to monitor all relevant areas closely.

- A traveller must always check for the registration of the operator before booking an adventure sports activity.
- One must confirm that the operator is registered with the local tourism department and holds a valid license issued by the District Administration
- It is always essential to know if the pilot is well trained and hold professional credentials
- According to reports, the pilots must be certified by a recognised body such as the Aero Club of India or DGCA-approved training institutes
- One can always check their ID and certification to be sure about the pilots credentials
- The places of adventure sports activities are always categorised by the government authorities, one must fly with operators only operating at notified sites and avoid offerings from random locations
- Check equipment condition and must inspect the flying gear and safety protocols.
