Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off three new Vande Bharat Express trains on August 10, 2025 from Bengaluru Railway Station in Karnataka, officials said.
"Vande Bharat Trains, viz- Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune Vande Bharat, Bengaluru-Belgavi Vande Bharat and Katra-Amritsar will be flagged off by PM Modi on Sunday," an official said.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and other dignitaries will also attend the event, the official said.
Following the flag off, Maharashtra will receive its 12th Vande Bharat train on the Ajni (Nagpur)–Pune route.
The train will also cover areas that were previously unserved, including the Wardha to Manmad stretch.
Both Nagpur and Pune are important cities with growing industries, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities. Nagpur, also known as the Orange City and Tiger Capital of India, is famous for Deekshabhoomi and the AIIMS hospital. Pune, known as the Cultural Capital of Maharashtra, is home to historical sites linked to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and important pilgrimage spots like the Dagdusheth Temple, an official statement said on Friday.
The Ajni–Pune Vande Bharat will be the longest-running Vande Bharat Express, covering 881 km. It will be the fastest train on this route, travelling at an average speed of 73 km/h and stopping at 10 stations, including Wardha, Akola, Shegaon, Bhusaval, Jalgaon, Manmad, and Ahmednagar, the statement said.
The Vande Bharat train will run six days a week-
- Train No. 26101 Pune-Ajni departing at 06:25 hrs and reaching Ajni at 18:25 hrs (starting August 11)
- Train No. 26102 Ajni-Pune departing at 09:50 hrs and reaching Pune at 21:50 hrs (starting August 12)
"The Vande Bharat train will have eight coaches, including one Executive Chair Car and seven Chair Cars, with seating for 590 passengers," said an official.
PM will also flag off the KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express and Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Katra-Amritsar Vande Bharat at the event.
Presently 72 Vande Bharat trains are running in the country covering 24 States and Union territories, offering safe, comfortable and fast travel through 144 services to its passengers. Indian Railways plans to introduce 200 plus Vande Bharat Trains in the next 3 years, the official statement said.
