The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several districts of Maharashtra on Friday, warning residents of possible thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in isolated areas.
Thane and Palghar are under a yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, heavy rain, and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph. Meanwhile, Mumbai, Raigad, and Ratnagiri could experience thunderstorms with lightning, moderate rainfall, and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph at isolated places. Other districts under yellow alert include Sindhudurg, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Pune, the ghats of Pune and Satara.
On Friday, Colaba recorded a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius with 9 mm of rainfall, while Santacruz logged 27 degrees Celsius with no rainfall.
According to the Thane Belapur Industries Association (TBIA), the minimum temperature in the region was 26 degrees Celsius with 78 per cent humidity. No rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours in the region, where the seasonal rainfall now stands at 59.4 millimetres.
Ratnagiri recorded a minimum of 24.3 degrees Celsius, with 17.2 mm rainfall, and 84 per cent humidity, whereas Mahabaleshwar remained cooler at 18 degrees Celsius, recording 25.8 mm rainfall and fog.
Pune recorded 21.4 degrees Celsius with 90 per cent humidity and 18.3 mm rainfall. Matheran logged 19 degrees Celsius, 84 per cent humidity, and 3.8 mm rainfall, while Malegaon remained dry at 22.6 degrees Celsius with 90 per cent humidity. Light to moderate rain was observed across other parts of Maharashtra and Goa.
Sangli reported 21.8 degrees Celsius, 85 per cent humidity, and 1.2 mm rainfall, bringing its seasonal total to 62.1 mm. Dahanu remained warm and humid at 26 degrees Celsius with 86 per cent humidity and no rainfall. It recorded a seasonal total of 40.4 mm.
Satara recorded 21.4 degrees Celsius, 95 per cent humidity, and 11.1 mm rainfall, pushing its seasonal tally to 28.6 mm.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar reported 22.8 degrees Celsius, 81 per cent humidity, and 0.2 mm rainfall, with seasonal rainfall at 50.7 mm.
Solapur recorded 23.1 degrees Celsius, 73 per cent humidity, and 15.2 mm rainfall, while Beed reported 21 degrees Celsius, 32.7 degrees maximum, 83 per cent humidity, and no rainfall.
Nashik stayed dry at 22.9 degrees Celsius with 80 per cent humidity, while Udgir recorded 21.8 degrees Celsius, 93 per cent humidity, and 3 mm rainfall.
Nandurbar remained dry at 24.7 degrees Celsius with 85 per cent humidity.
Overall, the IMD observed scattered rainfall across interior Maharashtra, humid coastal conditions, and partly cloudy skies across most regions on Friday.
Along the coast, Mormugao in Goa recorded a maximum of 31.8 degrees Celsius, a minimum of 24.2 degrees Celsius, and 5.6 mm rainfall, bringing the seasonal rainfall to 93.8 mm.
