A group of people allegedly attacked foreign students in one of the hostels of Gujarat University Ahmedabad on March 16. Police informed that the scuffle broke out as the foreign students were offering Namaz in the hostel premises. Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Gyanendra Singh Malik informed that stones were pelted and some hostel rooms were damaged. “Around 300 foreign students study here in Gujarat University. Some of them are from African nations, some are from Sri Lanka, some from Afghanistan. In the A block of the hostel, around 75 students live. Some were offering Namaz around 10:30 pm yesterday. Some 20-25 men came and asked them why are they offering Namaz here and it should be done in Masjid. On this, a heated argument and scuffle broke out. Stones were pelted, rooms were damaged. Police immediately responded and FIR was lodged. Strict action will be taken against persons involved. One person is identified. Rest will also be identified soon. The law and order situation here is under control,” he informed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 25 dived into the Arabian Sea off the coast of Gujarat to perform an underwater puja in the remains of the ancient submerged city of Lord Krishna’s Dwarka. In the photos shared by the PM on his ‘X’ handle, he can be seen in scuba gear and descending into the azure waters to offer prayers at the site steeped in historical and spiritual significance. Earlier in the day, PM Narendra Modi in Dwarka offered prayers at Beyt Dwarka Temple. After offering prayers at the temple, Prime Minister inaugurated the Sudarshan Setu in Dwarka. It is the longest cable-stayed bridge of the country that has been constructed at the cost of ₹ 979 crore.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on December 22 mocked MPs of Bharatiya Janata Party over Parliament Security Breach incident. He said that the two youths, carrying smoke canisters jumped into the Lok Sabha, earlier this month because they were jobless. The security breach happened on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack. Two people--Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D--jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour, released yellow gas from canisters, and shouted anti-establishment slogans before being overpowered by the MPs.

While speaking on Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita Bills 2023 in Lok Sabha, BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur on December 20 supported the Bills and made a fiery speech in the Parliament. The Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita bill seeks to replace the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860, which is the principal law on criminal offence in India. The new bill adds community service as a form of punishment. The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita, 2023 seeks to replace the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 (CrPC). The CrPC provides for the procedure for arrest, prosecution, and bail. The Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Bill, 2023 (BSB2) replaces the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.
