Machilipatnam witnessed strong winds and rain under the effect of the Cyclone. The onset of the landfall of the severe cyclone Michaung commenced in the region spanning from Nellore to Kavali in Andhra Pradesh. The landfall process is likely to continue for the next couple of hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a red alert for coastal Andhra Pradesh. The severe cyclone left a trail of destruction in Tamil Nadu. In Chennai, houses and streets submerged and trees uprooted following heavy rainfall and strong winds.
