Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate first traditional Hindu Mandir in UAE and the largest in the West Asia on February 14. Made with 1,800,000 bricks and 689,512 man-hours, 40,000 cubic feet of marble, 180,000 cubic feet of sandstone have been used in the temple. The cost of 108-foot-tall is estimated to be approximately million 440 Dirham. Foundation stone for the temple was laid by PM Modi in 2017. Built on 27 acres of land, the colossal structure can accommodate up to 10,000 people. The temple draws its inspiration from ‘lotus in the desert’. The temple boasts seven spires, each representing an emirate in UAE.

In a big win for the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi case, the Varanasi district court allowed to offer prayers inside the sealed basement of Gyanvapi Mosque. The court ordered that the barricades in the basement have to be removed in seven days and puja is allowed in ‘Vyas ka Taykhana’. The mosque is located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi and Hindu litigants in the district court had sought the survey to determine whether a temple existed at the same spot earlier which was proved in the recent survey. The survey of the Gyanvapi mosque premises began after the Allahabad High Court rejected the petition filed by Muslim litigants seeking a stay on the Varanasi court's order for a scientific survey by the ASI. Further details are awaited on the case.

Drone visuals have emerged from the Assar region of Doda where at least 36 people died and 19 others were injured in a bus accident. The visuals give a view of the deep gorge into which the bus fell. 25 bodies have been recovered so far. Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that a helicopter service was being arranged to transport the injured. The injured were shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar and GMC Doda. PM Modi expressed his condolences and also announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF to the next of kin of each deceased in the Doda bus accident. Rs. 50,000 would be given to the injured.

A day after TMC MP Mahua Moitra appeared before the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee over cash-for-query cash, the committee chairman and members revealed on November 3 what happened during the hearing. All the committee members alleged that the TMC MP went beyond the level of decency and used filthy language. With a total built-up area of around 40,800 sqm., the new terminal building will be capable of handling about 50 lakh passengers annually. An Apron suitable for two Boeing-767-400 and two Airbus-321 types of aircraft has also been constructed at Port Blair Airport at a cost of Rs 80 crore, making the airport now suitable for parking of ten aircraft at a time. Inspired from nature, the architectural design of the airport terminal resembles a shell shaped structure depicting sea and islands. The new airport terminal building has a number of sustainability features like Double Insulated Roofing System to reduce heat gain, skylights to provide maximum inlet of abundant natural sunlight during day time to reduce artificial light usage inside the building, LED lighting, low heat gain glazing. Rainwater catchment in an underground water tank, on-site sewage treatment plant with 100% of treated wastewater reused for landscaping and a 500 KW capacity solar power plant are some other features of the terminal building ensuring minimal negative impact on the islands’ environment.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Singh died allegedly after a lathicharge by Bihar Police during a protest by the party’s workers in Patna on the issue of teachers’ postings. BJP national president JP Nadda condemned the lathicharge on BJP leaders and workers in Patna and said that it is a result of the failure and indignation of the state government.Sushil Kumar Modi announced his death on twitter. The BJP workers were holding a “Vidhan Sabha march” on Thursday when the police used water cannons, tear gas shells and lathicharged to disperse the crowd. Earlier, videos emerged showing police using water cannons to disperse the crowd.
