It will be a family contest on the Baramati seat in Maharashtra as the suspense ended on Saturday when Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party announced Sunetra Pawar, Ajit Pawar's wife, from the seat against Sharad Pawar-led Supriya Sule. Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar) leader Sunetra Pawar’s candidature as Baramati candidate was announced on 30th March. Supriya Sule is the sitting MP from the seat since 2009. Her name was officially announced. On her candidature from Baramati, NCP candidate Sunetra Pawar said, “Today is a huge day for me. Diljit, along with his co-star Parineeti Chopra, director Imtiaz Ali and music composer AR Rahman, was seen unveiling the trailer of Chamkila, which is a biopic of the slain Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila. Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh became emotional after director Imtiaz Ali praised him, saying that despite his achievements, it's just the beginning for him. Imtiaz Ali stated, "Sab kehte hain aapne bohot kuch achieve kar liya hai lekin ye bas aapki shuruwat hai... Aap jaha bhi jaaoge, hum bhi aapke saath chalenge," leaving the actor emotional. Parineeti Chopra also sang some of the songs from the film. Kailash Kher and AR Rahman also put up a special performance for the audience

India’s former Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu joined Bharatiya Janata Party on March 19. He joined the party in the presence of BJP’s National General Secretary Vinod Tawde. Taranjit finished his mission as a diplomat in the US on January 3. Taranjit Singh Sandhu is likely to be fielded from the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat. "In the last 10 years, I have worked closely with PM Modi's leadership, especially in the relationship with the United States and Sri Lanka...PM Modi is development-focused.
