Tendulkar appeals for free entry to school and college kids to increase turn-out for Tests
BATTING great Sachin Tendulkar had a suggestion each for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). If both the administrative bodies pay heed to what the highest run scorer in Tests suggest, cricket in India will certainly take a big step forward.
Tendulkar was firm in his opinion that Test cricket is absolutely safe and no other format, even the latest blockbuster T20, cannot budge Test cricket from its position.

But he expressed concern at the low turn-out for Test matches. "I suggest that the BCCI open the gates of Test venues for school and college kids for free," Tendulkar said at the unveiling of MCA's swanky Recreation Centre at the Bandra-Kurla Complex yesterday.
Tendulkar said that kids have a lasting impression of stars when they walk into the stadium.
"I still have memories of Michael Holding bowling to a batsman when I first walked into the Wankhede as a 10-year-old," the right-hander said.
Measures
He also said that the MCA should take measures to ensure school kids get to play at least three (Giles and Harris Shield) matches in a season. "After training for around eight to ten months there are occasions when kids don't get to play in a single match if their school crash out in the first round.
"So, a scenario should be created where all the 14-15 members of the team get an opportunity to play. Who knows we might come across a hidden talent," he said.
Talking about the Ranji Trophy final against Uttar Pradesh, he said, it is always an honour to play for Mumbai and added that the next goal was to win the national title for the 38th time for Mumbai.
