Second seed Harinderpal Singh Sandhu endured a stiff challenge before advancing to the men's semi-finals in the 68th CCI-Western India Open Squash Tournament at the Cricket Club of India yesterday.

The India No 3 dropped the opening set against a gritty Karan Malik in an all-Chennai encounter that eventually finished 7-11, 11-6, 11-2, 13-11 win.
