Keeping her in good stead will be her second-place finish at the recently concluded Delhi Half Marathon where Olympian steeplechaser Sudha Singh was the fastest woman among Indians, clocking 1:19:34.

“I participated in the Delhi Half Marathon just to check my fitness as I had not competed in any event after the Olympic qualifiers in July. I’m satisfied with my result in Delhi, but I will look for a podium finish here. If the weather is not hot and humid in Vasai-Virar, I hope to better my Delhi course record of 1hr 17min,” said the Arjuna awardee.

Though the women’s half marathon will see last year’s winner Kiran Tiwari, Lalita Babbar, Preeja Sreedharan and Vijayamala Patil vie for top honours, she said that she will miss Singh, who has pulled out of the Vasai-Virar marathon due to illness.

The men’s full marathon has Lyngkhoi Bining, Elam Singh, Arvind Kumar Yadav and Shivdan Barla Singh. Model and actor Milind Soman will also be seen participating in the full marathon. London Olympics silver medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar is the Event Ambassador along with Olympian Shiny Wilson. u00a0
