Medical reports prove he raped a 10-year-old girl and molested a nine-year-old on the same day; remanded to police custody
Officials of the Shivaji Nagar police station arrested a 19-year-old jari worker for raping a 10-year-old and molesting a nine-year-old on Wednesday evening. He was produced in the Kurla court yesterday morning and was remanded in police custody till Saturday. The accused was identified as Imran Shaikh, a resident of Govandi’s Azad Nagar.

Both the minors were sent for medical examination which confirmed that one was raped and the other was molested. Shaikh was arrested and booked under Sections 354 (molestation) and 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.
An official from the Shivaji Nagar police station said, “Shaikh dragged the 10-year-old girl to his house when nobody was around, and raped her. Later, he dragged a nine-year old girl to his house and molested her. Before leaving them, he threatened the girls with dire consequences if they told anyone about the incident.”
Police officials said the incident came to light after the 10-year-old complained to her mother about pain in her private parts and revealed what had happened. Her parents rushed her to the police station.
“The 10-year-old told us about Shaikh’s second victim, as she had seen him drag her into the house. We then inquired about Shaikh’s character with his neighbours, as we suspect that he must have committed similar crimes in the past,” said the official.u00a0
