Mumbai Crime: Khar inspector escapes ACB trap

An inspector from Khar police station managed to avoid the trap laid by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).

The accused, an assistant police inspector identified as Samant, had allegedly demanded Rs 50 lakh from the complainant to withdraw a case against him. The complainant approached the ACB and filed a complaint against Samant. The amount was negotiated to Rs 10 lakh.

A team from ACB laid the trap and prepared a bundle with a Rs 1,000 note on top and bottom with white papers in the middle. On Monday, around 7 pm, the complainant met Samant and gave the bundle to him.

However, Samant sensed that it was a trap and escaped from the police station with the bundle. At the time of going to press, a case was registered against the police inspector and cops were searching the accused.
