New food delivery app Dailycacy brings you iconic dishes from your favourite eateries, but at a price
Instead of restaurants, the home page throws up dish suggestions
Food and mobile apps maketh a happy marriage, it appears. There is no dearth of food delivery apps in the city, and joining this assembly line is Dailycacy. However, this one claims to be different, so we decided to try it out to see if it lives up to its claims.

What does it do?
Dailycacy is a dish-centric food delivery app that promises to bring you popular dishes and street food from your neighbourhood eateries. Service is governed by the the working hours of the eateries on its roster. The app has a clean design, and is easy to navigate.
Since we were ordering from Bandra (E), after detecting our location, Dailycacy threw up a list of well-known dishes from the famed Guru Kripa in Sion, and one of our favourite late-night haunts, Chatai Pav Bhaji, in Matunga. When you select a dish, the app also flashes snippety expert reviews of the eatery to help you make an informed decision.
Does it work?
The app covers a larger radius than most others we’ve used, which wins it brownie points. We were also excited to see the variety available, but were disappointed when we realised that once you pick an item, the app only allows users to order more dishes from the same eatery.
We faced trouble placing an order the first time around. We weren’t located in a serviceable area, we were told. We were only able to proceed a few attempts later.
The food arrived much after the stipulated time of 40 minutes, but considering the traffic, we’re willing to forgive them. However, this meant that by the time our Idli-Vada and Pineapple Sheera got to us, it wasn’t hot and fresh anymore.
As far as payments are concerned, as of now, the only method available is cash on delivery. We also noticed that prices of all dishes on the app are hiked by five to 10 per cent, and once they add the delivery charge (up to '30), your affordable street fare ends up becoming heavy on the pocket. This, however, is a smart move by the creators to sustain their business in a market where players like TinyOwl and Foodpanda have crashed and burned owing to their faulty business models.
The verdict
The app is a hit when it comes to delivering some of your favourite street food, even from fairly long distances. That said, it’s not without the negatives.
