A 36-year-old woman was arrested and narcotic drugs worth around Rs 5.96 lakh were seized from her by the Navi Mumbai police.

The woman, identified as Shanno Ramzan Sheikh from Antop Hill, was held yesterday.
“Following a tip-off that a woman was coming to CBD Belapur to sell drugs on a large scale, the officers kept a vigil and nabbed her around 6.30 pm yesterday,” Vinod Chavan, Inspector of the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Navi Mumbai police, said.
“The accused was carrying 127.20 gm of methaqualone and 85.70 gm of ketamine, both narcotic drugs, for selling. The contraband was being carried in a plastic bag. The total value of the seizure is R5.96 lakh,” he said.
An offence under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the woman.
