Vijay Manjrekar XI's Shams Mulani's all-round performance helped him win the Ramakant Desai Trophy for being the player of the tournament in the 28th Sportstar Trophy MCA U-19 Selection Trial Tournament at Cross Maidan yesterday.
Mulani scalped two wickets and also contributed with the bat with some useful knocks. Vijay Manjrekar XI registered an outright victory over Dattu Phadkar XI by 75 runs and finished on top with seven points at the end of round three.
Mulani, who participated in the competition for the first time was elated with his effort. “It’s a player’s dream to make it to the Mumbai U-19 side. It’s an honour that the MCA selectors chose me for the award. This will motivate me to perform better,” said the 17-year-old.
