Fans are yet to see Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar share screen space but the two would have become co-stars much early in their career, had director Mansoor Khan not rejected the latter for a role in 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander'.

The 1992 sports drama film featured Aamir, Ayesha Jhulka, Mamik Singh, Deepak Tijori and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in the lead roles. Today, the whole team of the film reunited at the ongoing 18th Jio MAMI Mumbai International Film Festival to share its experience of making the superhit movie.

During the meet, Farah Khan, who was the choreographer as well as the casting director for the movie, revealed Akshay auditioned for the movie. "Mansoor has forgotten that I was in charge of casting as well. There were many actors who were tested for this film. Yes, Akshay Kumar had tested for the film and Nagma was already fixed for the movie. Akshay had given the test in Aamir's garden," she said.

A surprised Aamir interrupted, "Which role?" to which Farah replied, "It wasn't your role but Deepak Tijori's!" Aamir, then, quipped, "So, Farah, you rejected Akshay?" The choreographer-director said, "No. Mansoor rejected him. Nagma was tested for Pooja Bedi's role but one week before the shoot of the film, Nagma's mother said she did not like the line 'You are a gold licker'.

There was another actress called Sheeba, who came for screen test with her mother, spot boy and her dog..." Deepak, who played the main antagonist in the movie, revealed that initially, he got rejected for the part but on Mahesh Bhatt's insistence, went to meet Mansoor and he was finally chosen.

"I had tested and got rejected. I remember Bhatt sahab (Mahesh) asked me to meet Mansoor. I told him I have been rejected, but he said, 'Go and meet Mansoor'. So, I went and met Mansoor and it was a yes."
