Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) is slowly becoming the most popular drug at rave parties. Though expensive, it is being widely consumed by the rich and the famous to get high. The police recovered 850 drops of LSD amounting to Rs 5 lakh during Sunday's raid. It is considered to be the costliest and most hazardous drug with a single drop costing around Rs 2,000.
"This is the first time we recovered such huge quantities of LSD. We also recovered 104 ecstasy tablets and 250 gm of charas," said assistant commissioner of police G N Koyende of the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC).
During rave party raids in Pune and Bangalore, the police had found cocaine, but not LSD.
Why LSD?
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nagre-Patil of ANC said, "LSD is in demand, as even one drop can give a stronger kick compared to cocaine. It also helps people hallucinate." Dr Yusuf Machisswala, a psychiatrist, said, "LSD makes one hyper sensual. In fact, it makes one feel low." |
