| Into the wild: Kids set up their camp during the wilderness programme; meet some of the crocs at Madras Crocodile Bank Trust |
This summer give your children a gift that they can never forget! Wishbone Interactive is back with their next adventure workshop bringing a bag of surprises and experiences that will enlighten children and take them on a fun ride.
The wild side
The programme will be held at Gerry Martin’s farm, and Gerry Martin (India’s first National Geographic Channel adventurer) himself will be there, assisting the children between the age groups of nine to 16, sharing his views on various topics.
The two-day programme will be an adventure-packed outing for children where they can freak out in the outdoors while acquiring tips on nature. They can learn camping skills, cooking, discover all about the lives of insects, and gain exposure on how they can train themselves to see the smallest animals at night, get close to urban wildlife, learn how ponds sustain themselves and lots more.
What’s up
Kids will be camping out in the night, in a fruit orchard, alongside a lovely lake. This workshop promises to be an ideal combo of fun and learning packed in one, as the programme is directed towards helping kids develop skills that will help them safely explore their natural environs, learn how to identify birds from their plumage, their flight and shape.
They will also learn to hone their animal tracking skills, understand the interactions between various species within a small ecosystem and learn how to explore and appreciate wildlife.
The kids will be guided by outdoor instructors, with an adult to child ratio of 1:5. The team will be well-equipped with a completely stocked medical kit with one doctor on hand at all times.
“If your child is the kind who enjoys playing with a mutt, is hooked to the wildlife channels on the TV, brings home bugs in little jars and simply loves the idea of keeping an elephant in your living room, this programme will be a perfect experience,” says Kaushik Bajibab of Wishbone Interactive.
Here is one outdoor camp where kids can enjoy being kids, explore nature, learn few helpful and lasting survival skills and just have a blast doing so.
The next step
The team will also be taking a small group of people over to the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust (MCBT), which has over 3,000 crocodiles in its care, where you can find tiny hatchlings to Jaws III the largest crocodile at the park, measuring in excess of 16 feet!
Here, the group will get a chance to get their hands dirty, working with the team at MCBT, cleaning enclosures, catching, counting and measuring the crocs and doing everything that is required for three whole days at the Croc Bank.
Participants will also get the opportunity to go herping in the nearby fields and plantations to find small snakes and other reptiles.
Evenings will be spent in presentations, some unforgettable conversations and night time swims in the Bay of Bengal that’s located right there.
This is open to people from all age groups and the programme will be an ideal adventure haunt for everyone right from day one!
