Dr Batra’s Healthcare.
When Padma Shri Dr. Mukesh Batra started his first clinic in Mumbai in 1982, homeopathy was still some distance away from the organised healthcare practice it is today. More than four decades later, the institution he founded has grown beyond India, while his own journey has become closely linked with the evolution of organised homeopathic care in the country.
That journey was recognised at the India 2030 Leadership Conclave 2026, where Dr Batra's® Healthcare was named Most Trusted Brand - Healthcare.
Padma Shri Dr. Mukesh Batra, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Dr Batra's® Healthcare, and Dr. Akshay Batra, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, received the recognition from author and motivational speaker Gaur Gopal Das and S M Group Chairman Sharad Maheshwari.
The recognition was part of the Conclave's larger focus on Indian leaders and institutions that have built businesses and organisations with a long-term impact.
For Padma Shri Dr. Mukesh Batra, the story began with an attempt to bring a more organised and professional approach to homeopathy. What started in Mumbai eventually grew into a network that today has more than 200 clinics across nearly 130 cities in 10 countries including India, Bangladesh, UK, UAE, Bahrain, Malaysia and Thailand, supported by over 350 specialised doctors. Ailments treated include Alopecia Areata, Psoriasis, Vitiligo, Eczema, Diabetes, Thyroid and PMOS.
The scale is significant, but so is the period over which it was built. Healthcare businesses depend heavily on credibility and sustaining that credibility across generations is often harder than building the initial enterprise.
That also makes the role of the second generation important. Dr. Akshay Batra now leads the organisation as Vice Chairman and Managing Director, as it looks at the next phase of its growth.
Research and clinical documentation have been another area of focus. Under its TARGET 365 initiative, Dr Batra's® Healthcare published more than 400 journal case papers in a single year, an effort aimed at documenting clinical cases and building a larger body of work around its practice.
Speaking after receiving the recognition, Padma Shri Dr. Mukesh Batra said, "This recognition reinforces the trust placed in us by millions across the globe and strengthens our resolve to deliver holistic healthcare for all. For us, this is not just a recognition of the past; it is a commitment to do even more in the years ahead."
Dr. Akshay Batra said the organisation's focus has been on building systems that can deliver consistent and measurable results for patients. "This honour reaffirms that we are on the right path and strengthens our commitment to raise the standard of care continuously," he said.
The Dr Batra's® story is also representative of a larger shift seen across several Indian enterprises over the past few decades. Businesses that began around the expertise and reputation of their founders are increasingly having to turn themselves into institutions, build professional systems and prepare themselves for leadership beyond the founding generation.
It is this transition that makes such journeys relevant to the India 2030 conversation. The next phase of India's growth will not only be shaped by new businesses, but also by established Indian institutions that are able to evolve, expand and remain relevant.
For Dr Batra's®, a practice that began in Mumbai more than four decades ago has today travelled to markets outside India. For Padma Shri Dr. Mukesh Batra, the recognition at the India 2030 Leadership Conclave marks another milestone in a journey that began with a single clinic and an ambition to give homeopathy a more organised platform.
