Businessman Sunjay Kapur died in June this year, leaving behind a fortune worth Rs 30000 crore. His family is fighting for control over it and Priya Kapur has been in the hot waters of controversy after Karisma's kids Kiaan and Samaira, demanded their share. Amid this, she was seen making her first public appearance as she attended the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) Annual Convention at Delhi's Taj Palace on Friday.
Priya has been appointed to the ACMA Executive Committee for 2025-26, with her updated professional bio reflecting the role effective September 12. Sunjay had earlier served as ACMA chairperson. At the event, Priya represented her roles as director of Aureus Investment (AIPL) and as non-executive director and chairperson of the CSR committee at Sona Comstar.
Her appearance as a top leader of the company comes amid the legal battle between her and Sunjay's children with ex-wife Karisma Kapoor - Samaira Kapoor and Kiaan Kapoor. The two had approached the Delhi High Court, seeking their share in their father's property and accusing Priya of forging his will. When Priya claimed that they had been given a share of Rs 1900 crore, the court demanded her to present Sunjay's assets list.
Adding to the suspicion, the court heard that Rani Kapur, Sunjay's mother, sent more than 15 unanswered emails to Priya seeking clarity on the will. The will, dated just 11 weeks before Sunjay's sudden demise, allegedly leaves his entire personal estate to his third wife, Priya Kapur, cutting out his children. The plaintiffs argue that they shared a close and active relationship with their father, with frequent travel, family time, and business involvement until his passing. For the unversed, Sunjay and Karisma parted ways in 2016.
Sunjay passed away on June 12 during a polo match in London, when he suffered a heart attack after reportedly swallowing a bee. After his death, his mom Rani Kapur grew suspicious, claiming she needed a probe into Sunjay's death. She went on to reveal how she was coerced into signing certain documents while she was grieving for her son.
