Singer Guru Randhawa has finally addressed the criticism and trolling surrounding his latest track, Fine Shyt. The song has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with users creating memes, edited videos and humorous posts around the track. However, Guru appears to be taking the online backlash in good humour.
On Monday, August 10, the singer took to Instagram to respond to the criticism. Sharing a video related to the song, Guru acknowledged the trolling and jokingly described himself as being "guilty" of creating songs that remain stuck in listeners' heads.
He also revealed that he has been enjoying the edits being made by social media users. While the track has been criticised by some, the singer made it clear that he does not appear to be taking the reactions personally.
"Guilty as charged of making songs that repeat in your head forever. Low-key loving the edits though. No bad vibes! It's just a silly little slang... calm down calm down calm down fam," Guru wrote in his Instagram post.
His response suggests that the singer is choosing to embrace the internet chatter rather than engage with the criticism. By calling Fine Shyt "a silly little slang", Guru appeared to downplay the controversy and urged social media users to not take the song too seriously.
The singer had also shared a spiritual post on Sunday from the Golden Temple in Amritsar. In the photograph, Guru was seen sitting near the holy Amrit Sarovar, with his back towards the camera as he looked at the Golden Temple. Although he did not directly refer to the trolling in that post, his accompanying message spoke about faith, strength and continuing to move forward despite difficult circumstances.
Fine Shyt features Guru Randhawa and Yashvi Desai on vocals. The music video stars Guru alongside Ruhee Dosani, Divinity Bisht, Arshia Sinha, Raema Grover, Darlene Laura and Mehar Kaur. The lyrics have been penned by Guru Randhawa and Gurjit Gill.
With his latest Instagram response, Guru seems determined to keep the mood light while acknowledging the attention his song has received online. This is int' teh first time Guru has been in controversy due to his songs. Earlier, Azul sparked controversy over the lyrics and depiction of school girls in the music video.
