Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma
Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has been making headlines for his personal life for quite a few months now. The cricketer is embroiled in a divorce with actress Dhanashree Verma. He recently appeared to take a dig at his ex-wife while referencing a Delhi High Court ruling on alimony.
Chahal took to his Instagram Stories to share a screenshot of a court verdict that read, "Financially independent wives cannot demand alimony from their husbands." Alongside it, he wrote, "Maa Kasam Khao Nahi Paltoge iss Decision Seh," which translates to, "Swear on your mother you won't go back on this decision."
However, the cricketer soon deleted the post. But the internet never truly lets deleted content stay hidden - the post instantly went viral with users sharing screenshots of the now-deleted story.
Chahal and Dhanashree tied the knot in 2020 before parting ways in 2024. Their separation made several headlines, and their divorce proceedings also remained in the news. It was reported that Dhanashree demanded alimony of Rs 4 crore in the divorce.
Verma recently appeared as a participant on the reality show Rise and Fall. On the show, while talking to co-participant Kubbra Sait, the choreographer spoke about her marriage falling apart. During the conversation, Kubbra asked, "When did you realise your relationship wasn't working and felt it was a mistake?" To this, Dhanashree replied, "In the first year - I caught him in the second month."
In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Chahal said, "I am a sportsperson, and I do not cheat. Agar koi two months mein hi cheat karta toh itna lamba relationship chalta kya? For me, this chapter is over - done and dusted. I have moved forward with my life, and everyone else should too."
Yuzvendra further explained that their marriage lasted over four years. "Hamari shaadi 4.5 years thi. Agar two months mein cheat hua hota toh kaun continue karta? Main pehle bhi bol chuka hoon ki main past se nikal chuka hoon. But some people are still stuck there⦠unka ghar mere naam se chal raha hai, toh they can continue doing that. I am not concerned or affected," he said.
Chahal added, "Main iss chapter ko bhula chuka hoon. Koi kuch bhi keh deta hai, and social media pe chal jaata hai. 100 baatein chalti hain, but the truth is only one, and those who matter, know it. Mere liye chapter closed hai. I don't want to address it ever again." The 35-year-old cricketer also mentioned that he is now focused on his life and career.
