Actor-turned-entrepreneur Aashka Goradia Goble's journey as a mother has reached a beautiful new milestone with the arrival of her second baby boy (Richard Theodore Goble). In this exclusive conversation with mid-day, the co-founder of Renee Cosmetics reflects on her evolving path through motherhood, from navigating the demanding early days of postpartum life to finding her rhythm as a mother of two.
Aashka moves away from the traditional narrative of "bouncing back", offering instead a candid look at the resilience required to lead a beauty empire while staying present for her growing family. From the joys of travelling with her little ones to embracing the physical changes of birth with grace, she reveals how a second child has only deepened her patience and strengthened her sense of purpose. For Aashka, balance isn't a destination; it's an everyday journey of confidence and mindful growth.
Excerpts from the interview
Q. Being a mom and running a business calls for work-life balance. How are you navigating it?
Aashka: Motherhood has given me a fresh perspective on time, priorities, and presence. Balance, for me, doesn't mean doing everything perfectly every day. It's about understanding what you need more in that moment and being okay with shifting gears. Some days are more work-focused, and some are all about family, and that's perfectly fine. Setting boundaries and having a strong support system have helped me manage both worlds. I try to be fully present wherever I am, and that presence makes all the difference.
Q. Our bodies go through a significant amount of change postpartum. Being a public figure, did you feel the need to get back in shape for the sake of appearance?
Aashka: I truly believe this phase is natural, beautiful, and something to be embraced. For me, it was never about rushing to "get back" to anything or worrying about what others might think. There's much more awareness and understanding today around postpartum changes. Beauty, to me, lies in confidence, grace, and mindset. When you feel good within, it naturally reflects on the outside. I chose to honour my body for everything it had gone through rather than put pressure on myself to look a certain way.
Q. How would you describe your postpartum journey amid the chaos of work?
Aashka: There isn't really one moment where you feel like you've fully "bounced back" postpartum. It's more of a slow, everyday journey where you're just figuring things out as they come. A newborn and work can be equally demanding in their own ways, so you quickly learn to take each day as it comes. Once the baby arrives, work doesn't really slow down; it just means your day becomes fuller, more active, and involves a lot of multitasking. Over time, you stop trying to "balance" everything perfectly and instead focus on adapting, doing what you can, when you can, and slowly finding your rhythm in the middle of it all.
Q. You're a mom who loves to travel with your babies. Do you have any tips for those planning to take a trip?
Aashka: Travelling with my son (William Alexander Goble) has been incredibly special. It's made me see the world through his eyes and, in many ways, relive my own childhood. Motherhood is such a blessing, and these journeys have turned into some of our most cherished memories. My biggest tip is to let go of the idea of perfection. Children adapt far more easily than we think. I carry essentials that keep him comfortable, his favourite snacks, toys, extra clothes, and daily must-haves. But more than anything, it's about being present and enjoying the little moments along the way.
Q. What are some of the things you have learned about yourself after becoming a mom?
Aashka: I've discovered a deeper sense of patience, resilience, and mindfulness. I now appreciate little moments that I may have overlooked before. There's also a stronger sense of purpose that reflects in both my personal life and work. Motherhood has taught me to trust myself more and grow with every new experience that comes my way.
