'Too much interference from Saif and Kareena': Agent Vinod actor blames star couple for film's failure

Actor Lalit Parimoo, who was seen in Sriram Raghavan's 2012 film Agent Vinod, recently made shocking revelations against his co-stars and lead actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The actor blamed them for the film's failure, claiming that a lot of "interference" from them led to the film tanking at the box office.

Lalit Parimoo blames Saif-Kareena

During a conversation with Siddharth Kannan on his podcast, Lalit Parimoo stated, "I think the main reason was that there was too much interference from the stars - Saif and Kareena. The way Sriram wanted to make that film, he couldn't make it that way."

He further added, "He was constantly being told what he should do, so it became a mess. The writing and the direction team... they didn't get to present what they wanted. That was the flaw of the film. Film is a director's medium, so if the director has a vision, people should just follow that. And if the director has cast any actor, they should only take the actor's suggestions if they are valid. If the actor is suggesting something because they are a star, then it means nothing. These kinds of adjustments ruin the film."

Notably, Lalit Parimoo had a good rapport with the film's director. The two had known each other since Parimoo's television days. During the conversation, he was asked if Sriram Raghavan spoke about the 'ordeal' with him. To this, Lalit Parimoo shared that the filmmaker did not go into detail and didn't share much. "He was talking about the interference; he did mention it," said Lalit Parimoo.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Agent Vinod is an action-spy film. Saif played the role of a RAW agent in the film while Kareena played a spy. The film was reportedly made on a budget of approximately Rs 60 crore. It was shot in Russia and Switzerland, while in India it was filmed in Ladakh, Mumbai, Jaisalmer and Delhi. Additionally, reports also suggest that Saif took around two years to complete the film.

Agent Vinod was produced under Saif's banner Illuminati Films, and also starred Gulshan Grover, Prem Chopra, Ram Kapoor and Ravi Kishan.
