Amit Sadh's Pratap comes one-and-a-half years after his last outing, Pune Highway (2025). For the actor, the wait between films has not always been a matter of choice. While he has occasionally turned down projects, there have also been times when the right opportunities simply did not come his way. "I wish I could tell you it's all a part of some brilliant master plan, but the truth is sometimes the work you want isn't coming to you," he said.

‘Pratap' also stars Esha Dharmendra Deol

The actor, however, refuses to view these gaps as setbacks. "I love being on set. I love the madness of movies. There is a lot more acting left in me," he said. But he is certain of one thing - he'll only feature in stories that appeal to him, and not do films to stack up projects. "I'm an actor, not a manufacturing line. I believe in telling stories, not meeting annual targets!"

Pratap ticked all the boxes for Sadh. Director Sachin Saraf's action drama sees the actor playing an encounter specialist who is put behind bars after years of putting others there. What drew him to the character was the reversal of power. He elaborated, "It's easy to be strong when you're the one calling the shots. What happens when you're not?"

The role also offered Sadh an opportunity to move away from Kabir Sawant, the cop he played across three seasons of Breathe. He added, "Pratap is poles apart from Kabir. A uniform doesn't make two people alike."
