Ramayana international trailer (Pics/X)
The international trailer of Ramayana was unveiled today at Bengaluru. It offers a fresh look at Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Ravana, along with a glimpse of Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra. While the first trailer introduced several key characters and plot points, the latest version focuses more on the clash between Ram and Ravana.
The 2-minute 36-second trailer shows new footage and more moments featuring Ram and Ravana. The trailer opens with a voice describing a time when the world lived in harmony, saying, "Before history was written, men walked among gods, and the world existed in perfect order." It finally shows Kunal Kapoor playing the role of Lord Indra.
The narration continues, "But from the darkness rose an evil force. Ravana. Born from fire and fury, he bent the gods to his will and made the world his throne." The trailer then introduces Lord Ram as "one hope of humanity." Armed with his bow and arrow, he is seen taking on him with ease.
The trailer features several key sequences centred on Ram and Ravana. Yash's Ravana is seen wreaking havoc. Also, there are visuals of Ranbir and Sai getting married which looks vibrant and their chemistry stands out effortlessly. In the new promo, Ranbir's Rama is seen fighting rakshasas as he vows to vanquish the demon king Ravana. The international trailer also features a few previously unseen moments between Ranbir Kapoor's Rama and Sai Pallavi's Sita.
The Ramayana Trailer, which was released earlier opened with the glimpse of Ravana, in the guise of a sage before revealing his regal avatar as the mighty king addressing the people of Lanka from his grand palace. The narrative shifts to the birth of Lord Ram, followed by an emotional exchange with Kaikeyi (Lara Dutta), who asks him to embrace exile. The trailer also featured slimpses of Surpnakha, Saurabh Sachdeva as Maricha, Vivek Oberoi in Surpnakha's backstory, and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara. However, these characters missed from international trailer version.
To note, Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's Ramayana has received a PG-13 rating in the US for strong violence and bloody images. Notably, the makers had planned a grand event in Maharashtra's Ramtek to release a song from the film during Navratri. However, the event was cancelled due to the drought in the state.
