Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela's upcoming romantic drama, tentatively titled Tu Meri Zindagi Hai and directed by Anurag Basu, has finally got a release date. The film, produced by Bhushan Kumar, will hit theatres on April 30, 2027, amid earlier speculation about a delay. The news comes after Anurag Basu addressed the rumours of a delay and confirmed that the film is on track.
Sharing a picture of Kartik and Sreeleela from the sets, the makers announced the date on social media. "A new story which will stay in your heart is ready to unfold on the big screen. Starring #KartikAaryan & #Sreeleela âUntitled' film helmed by #AnuragBasu Produced by #BhushanKumar In cinemas on 30th April 2027. #TSeries," read the post.
This comes after rumours were rife about the film's delay. The director then confirmed that the film was progressing steadily and remained firmly on track. The collaboration between the film's two actors has already sparked considerable curiosity, marking a fresh pairing under Basu's direction.
Speaking about the film's status, director Anurag Basu told a portal, "We are very much on schedule and the shoot is progressing well. It's a film we believe in deeply, and we are bringing it to audiences this year as intended."
The project was first announced in February 2025 through a promotional video featuring Kartik and Sreeleela. It was initially scheduled to release in December 2025 before being postponed. The film is now set to arrive in cinemas on April 30, 2027.
Meanwhile, Basu's film was initially scheduled for a 2025 release. After the release of Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, there were rumours that the themes of both films were similar. This led to speculation that Basu was rewriting the script of his film.
Is there any truth to the buzz? A hard no, said Basu while talking to mid-day in 2025 after the release of Saiyaara. Unfazed by the rumours, the filmmaker said, "Mohit and I are very close. I'm happy for his film's success. The only similarity in our films is that the male lead is a rockstar, and the story is about his journey."
The filmmaker added that he was aware of Saiyaara's story beforehand. Basu elaborated, "In my film, the girl doesn't have dementia or any [other condition]. We are not rewriting or re-shooting. I knew beforehand that the girl has Alzheimer's [disease] in Saiyaara. So, why would I write the same [plot point] in mine?"
