Disha Patani's father granted weapons licence two months after firing outside Bareilly residence

Disha Patani’s father, Jagdish Patani, has been granted a weapons licence two months after gunmen fired at her Bareilly residence following remarks by her sister. The move comes after police action and security measures ensured by Uttar Pradesh authorities

Disha Patani's Bareilly residence was attacked after shots were fired at her home in the wee hours of September. According to police, two motorbike-borne assailants fired shots at the residence around 3:30 am. The attack happened after her sister Khushboo Patani made certain remarks on Hindu saints Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj. As per the latest development, the Bareilly district administration has issued a weapons licence to Jagdish Patani.

Bareilly officials issue a weapon licence to Disha Patani's father

Jagdish Patani, a retired DSP, had approached the Bareilly District Magistrate after a criminal gang fired at Disha Patani's ancestral home. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had assured him of security following the incident.

Bareilly District Magistrate Avnish Singh said Patani requested a weapons licence after the attack on his residence. Following the completion of all formalities, Patani was granted a revolver/pistol licence.

About the firing incident

According to officials, on September 12, 2025, two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fired approximately 10 rounds outside Patani's home. A case was lodged at Kotwali police station, and the two suspects, identified as Ravindra and Arun, were killed in an encounter on September 17 in Ghaziabad by a joint team of Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force (STF), Haryana STF, and the Delhi unit.

After the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath promptly directed an immediate probe with strict action. Bareilly Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya confirmed that security would continue at Jagdish Patani's residence.

On the work front, Disha will soon be seen in Welcome to the Jungle. Apart from this, Disha is set to make her Hollywood debut with Kevin Spacey's upcoming film Holiguards, extensively shot in Mexico. Vishal Bhardwaj took to his Instagram to announce that Disha Patani is all set for a cameo opposite Shahid Kapoor in his upcoming film.
